Saturday Nights

September 3rd, 2010

The main intent was to wake up early and head out the door, but what can I say? I enjoy sleeping in late. The long runs gradually increase in mileage. My attempts vary from barely being able to do all of it, to doing most of it or just plain skipping it. I didn’t run [...]

A New Niche

August 20th, 2010

Looking out of my car window on a Thursday evening I see the same group again. Most are making their way down the sidewalk to a blue water cooler, and a few are already making their way back towards the mall. One running shop exists in the mall. It’s positioned in the center and stares [...]

Saturday Mornings

August 6th, 2010

Last weekend I woke up, looked at my alarm clock, thought, “I would have been done by now. Oh, well” and promptly went back to sleep. Setting the wake up time and turning on the alarm are two distinct steps. I forgot the later of the two. I’m I getting use to doing them now. [...]

Saturday Mornings

July 30th, 2010

I’ve only slept in one of the three Saturday mornings so far. I’ve been in “maintenance mode” since March where the weekend distance is no different than the weekday. Now, the weekend long distance either doubles or triples from the norm, depending on what the schedule dictates. After doing the longer ones my legs are [...]

There’s an App for That

July 29th, 2010

The screen shows me how many push-ups I need to do. I just laugh because there’s no way I could do that many. Maybe if it was the first set, yes, but the last set? No. Update – 08/02/2010 – The apps are re-priced at $1.99. Update – 08/01/2010 – The app as well as [...]

Saturday Mornings

July 23rd, 2010

The distance isn’t long enough to make two laps around the neighborhood this time. I’m not complaining. Really, I’m not. I tempted to sleep-in and do this in the evening.

The Second Loop

July 20th, 2010

Half way into the second loop around the neighborhood last Saturday morning, I think to myself, “I just want to go home.” Things begin to warm up as the sun climbs higher into the sky. People are doing their routes on the opposite side of the road. I think of how it will feel doing [...]

Saturday Mornings

July 16th, 2010

If I head out the door by 6 a.m., I should be finished by 8 a.m.  The time required to do laps around the neighborhood grows over the next several months and by September if I leave at the same time, I should be done by 10 a.m.
